RE-ENACTMENT OF THE WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE MARCH

This powerful image captures Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated members participating in a re-enactment of the historic 1913 Women’s Suffrage March, honoring the bold legacy of the 22 Founders who courageously joined the original procession in Washington, D.C. as its first public and social action as a sorority. In this re-enactment, sorors—many dressed in traditional white attire symbolizing purity, strength, and solidarity—march in unified formation, carrying banners that echo the spirit of advocacy championed by the Sorority since its earliest days. Their presence reflects Delta’s enduring commitment to civil rights, political engagement, and the pursuit of equality for all.

Against the backdrop of American democracy, this moment bridges past and present, reminding viewers that the struggle for voting rights and full citizenship required—and still requires—collective action and unwavering determination. By retracing the historic route, the North Jersey Alumnae Chapter and other participating sorors pay tribute not only to the Founders but also to the countless women whose courage and activism shaped the nation’s democratic landscape. The image stands as a vivid testament to Delta Sigma Theta’s intergenerational legacy of leadership, advocacy, and social justice, reaffirming the Sorority’s mission to empower communities and champion human rights.
